North Plainfield Man Charged with Distribution of Explicit Images of Minors

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy M. Fitzgerald, Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzano, North Plainfield Borough Chief of Police William Parenti and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Newark, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Richard Frankel, announce the arrest of Jose Orellana, 42, of Duer Street, North Plainfield. 

Prosecutor Soriano states that in October 2014 the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) working under the auspices of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program initiated an investigation into certain computer activities that were taking place at the aforementioned Duer Street address. 

Prosecutor Soriano states that yesterday at 6 a.m., Task Force members executed a search warrant on the subject residence. The search resulted in the seizure of a computer belonging to defendant Orellana.  The lengthy investigation revealed that defendant Orellana was hosting over 1,300 image files of explicit images of minors available for downloading through a file sharing network. Defendant Orellana was arrested without incident and lodged in the Somerset County Jail.  Bail was set by the Honorable Paul W. Armstrong, J.S.C. at $100,000 cash only.

Defendant Orellana was charged with distribution of explicit images of minors, endangering the welfare of a child / possession of explicit images of minors.
