At 4:30 a.m., it’s a refreshing 65 degrees near University Hospital in Newark’s Central Ward.

For early commuters waiting at bus stops or heading to work, the air is cool, the skies are mostly clear, and the humidity is at bay, making for an enjoyable start to the day.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees, with a northeast wind shifting southeast at 6 to 10 mph later in the day.

Tonight, skies will become mostly cloudy, and temperatures are expected to settle around 66 degrees.

In parts of North Jersey, such as Sussex and Morris Counties, early risers reported even cooler conditions, with temperatures dipping into the mid-50s —an unseasonable chill for mid-August, but one that many residents are likely embracing.
