Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a peaceful morning on this solemn Thursday as the nation commemorates the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

At 4:30 a.m., temperatures in the city hovered around 66 degrees, offering a cool and quiet start to a day of remembrance.

 

Ceremonies across the state are expected to take place under clear skies, providing an appropriate backdrop for moments of reflection, prayer, and tribute. 

 

For those planning to attend memorials, the weather will be calm, with mild conditions carrying through the day.

 

According to the National Weather Service:

 

Today: Sunny, with a high near 84. North wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
