Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to dry skies and a milder start to the week, especially compared to the breezy chill of Sunday.

At 4:30 a.m., temperatures in Downtown Newark hovered around 57 degrees under mostly clear skies.
According to the National Weather Service, a gradual warm-up is underway that will make the rest of the week feel more like summer.
While Sussex County, Morristown, and Paterson are starting the morning in the mid to upper 40s, forecasters expect temperatures to climb comfortably through the day.
Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 74 degrees, with a light northwest wind between 3 and 8 mph.
Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, with a low around 56.
After a cool weekend, North Jersey residents can look forward to brighter, warmer days ahead.
