Good morning and happy Thursday, New Jersey!
We are waking up to what should be a decent day across Newark and the North Jersey region, but don’t expect the same summer-like warmth we enjoyed earlier this week.
As of 4:30 a.m., temperatures are sitting at a comfortable 60 degrees in downtown Newark. While the morning isn’t particularly chilly, temperatures will struggle to climb much higher throughout the day.
After Tuesday’s gorgeous, summer-like weather, we’re gradually making our way back to more typical October conditions.
Around the region this morning, temperatures are showing some differences. Somerville is reporting 57 degrees, Trenton is at 58, Irvington is at 55, while temperatures have dipped to 50 degrees in Belmar and 49 in Sussex County.
The good news is that Thursday should remain dry, with some sunshine expected throughout the day.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 64 degrees. Northeast winds will range from 5 to 9 mph.
Tonight, clouds will increase, with showers expected mainly after 5 a.m. Friday. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 55 degrees, with southeast winds near 6 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, although rainfall amounts are expected to remain below one-tenth of an inch.
And don’t get too comfortable with the cooler temperatures! We’re expecting another warm-up Friday, with temperatures potentially climbing back into the 70s.
It’s certainly been a back-and-forth weather pattern this week, but that’s October in New Jersey!
Have a great Thursday, Jersey!
