North Haledon Man Arrested for Healthcare, Tax Fraud

Passaic County authorities announced the arrest of a North Haledon man for healthcare, and tax fraud.

According to officials, Patrick Capizzi, 69, from North Haledon, was arrested on January 9 after an investigation.

Officials say Mr. Capizzi is charged with one count of second-degree Healthcare Claims Fraud and one count of third-degree Failure to Pay Tax.

On October 26, 2020, the Passaic County authorities received a report of inappropriate billing for services from the chiropractic offices of Patrick Capizzi, located in North Haledon.

According to authorities, the investigation revealed that Capizzi inappropriately submitted insurance claims for services not performed on patients and received payments of approximately $372,000.00.

The investigation revealed that Capizzi failed to make the appropriate tax payments.

The sentencing exposure for second-degree Healthcare Claims Fraud is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison, and for third-degree Failure to Pay Tax is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.

Mr. Capizzi was processed and released and will appear in Central Judicial Processing Court within two weeks.
