A 76-year-old woman attempting to cross Route 1, was struck and killed Wednesday night, according to police.
Officers responded to the scene where they found Carolyn Sheldon who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on preliminary investigations, as Carolyn Sheldon attempted to cross sometime around 10:30 p.m., she was struck twice, first by a vehicle driven by Sergio Benitez, 43, of Union City and a second vehicle - allegedly an SUV - which fled the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
