North Bergen Celebrates 40,000th Dose Issued As Eligibility Opens to All NJ Residents

North Bergen

The Township of North Bergen has now issued over 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to residents through its local vaccination site as well as other sites that its Health Department administers through a shared service agreement.

Under the leadership of Health Director Janet Castro, the township site at the North Bergen Recreation Center opened in January along with partner sites in Union City, Secaucus, Weehawken and Harrison.

All of those sites are now open to all residents age 16 and older for Pfizer vaccines and 18 or older for Moderna vaccines.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work that Janet Castro and her team have done to protect North Bergen residents as well as our neighbors in other nearby communities by efficiently administering over 40,000 vaccines,” said North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco.

”The shared service agreement we created to administer Health Department services in Union City, Secaucus, Weehawken and Harrison has been tested like we never envisioned over the past year and it’s clear that it not only saves taxpayers money, it has helped keep Hudson County safe.”
