Non-Life Threatening Injuries Reported for Victim of Irvington Township Crash, Overturn Vehicle

A Good Samaritan is being credited with assisting a man from a vehicle that crashed then overturned on a street in Irvington Township Saturday night.

According to preliminary reports, the crash happened at approximately 10:40 p.m. on 40th Street when the driver of a car lost control and crashed into a parked vehicle.

Police say the impact of the crash caused the car to overturn; temporarily trapping the driver.

A Good Samaritan in the area raced to the aid of the driver then stayed with him until emergency responders arrived at the scene for further assistance.

The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark for an examination. He is expected to be ok according to reports.

Police are looking into the possibility that the driver fell asleep, but there is no official word on the cause of the crash.

There were no other injuries reported.
