NJIT Student's Death Under Investigation

Authorities in Newark are investigating the death of a 20-year-old New Jersey Institute of Technology Student.

An official statement released to the public earlier today reported that the college community were mourning the loss of Albert Roman, 20, an Electrical Engineering student and Laurel Hall resident, who passed away early this morning.  Officials said the cause of death is under investigation but no foul play is suspected. 

College Officials said their thoughts and prayers of the University community go out to Albert’s family, friends, classmates, and professors.

"During this time of great loss, we are reminded of the importance of community the college said". 

"Losing a fellow student and member of our University can be very difficult. I encourage students who feel that they may need additional emotional support to contact the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at (973) 596-3414 located in Campbell Hall, Room 205. Staff and faculty may reach out to Carebridge, our Employee Assistance Provider at 1-800-437-0911" officials said. 

The college community will be planning a memorial service and will notify the college community as to the time and place of the service as it becomes finalized.
