The program offers a six-week summer experience designed to prepare students for college success, including five weeks of residential living on NJIT’s campus. Participants will also receive stipends, providing both academic enrichment and financial support.

Officials say the initiative is open to students in grades 8 through 12 who live and attend school in Newark.

While all eligible students are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those attending Barringer, Central, East Side, Marion P. Thomas, Mx. Shabazz, Newark Vocational, Weequahic, and West Side high schools.

The Upward Bound Program focuses on academic achievement, college readiness, and exposure to higher education through structured coursework, mentorship, and campus life experience.

Applications are now open, and interviews are expected to begin as early as next week.

Families are urged to act quickly and use the QR code on the official flyer to submit an application.
