A Lacey Township woman is facing serious charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that left one man critically injured and another with minor injuries, according to information released by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that 22-year-old Cagla Nemutlu has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury following a hit-and-run incident on the night of July 19, 2025, in the Winteringham Village section of Toms River.
At approximately 11:25 p.m., Toms River Police responded to the area and found a 60-year-old man suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle.
He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he remains in critical but stable condition. A second male victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Squad, Toms River Police Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit determined that Nemutlu struck both victims while backing out of a parking space and fled the scene at a high speed without stopping or providing aid.
Officers later located Nemutlu within the same complex and placed her under arrest without incident.
She is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
