NJ Transit officials and authorities are investigating a fatal train strike that occurred overnight in Newark.
The incident happened on the Northeast Corridor tracks near New York Avenue and Railroad Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. according to reports.
Emergency crews were called to the scene where they found the unidentified victim unconscious and unresponsive suffering serious injuries at that location.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.
