NJ Transit Coast Line Train Service Temporarily Suspended after Body Found on Tracks in Oceanport


NJ Transit officials temporarily suspended service on North Jersey Coast Line trains from Little Silver to Long Branch after a body was recovered on the tracks early Sunday morning.

According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were called to a section of the tracks at Bridgewater Drive near Monmouth Park shortly before 2:30 a.m. after they received reports of an injured person at that location.

Upon their arrival, they found the unidentified body of the person who medical personnel officially pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials did not immediately confirm if the person was struck by a train as they continued to investigate what caused the victim's death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
