An early morning crash involving a NJ Transit bus sent several people to the hospital in Newark .
The crash occurred at the intersection of Central Ave. and 8th Street shortly before 2 a.m. where emergency crews arrived to the scene to find a car involved in the crash on fie with a person trapped inside. The fire was swiftly extinguished when rescue crews worked to free the occupant of the vehicle.
Most of the victims of the crash were passengers on the bus and suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the car was listed as critical with life threatening injuries.
The injured were taken to University Hospital and East Orange General.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
