NJ TRANSIT will resume regular weekday schedules for most services in South Jersey on Tuesday but due to continuing significant impacts of the snowstorm, services in North and Central Jersey will resume operations with delayed starts as weather conditions permit.
Officials said NJ TRANSIT will be working closely with state, county and local agencies to coordinate service resumption with local and county snow removal schedules. Please see below for systemwide service information.
Systemwide cross honoring will be in effect for rail, bus and light rail tickets as well as on PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken and 33rd St. and private carrier buses.
Important Note: Service on Tuesday, February 2, may be subject to delays or cancellations. South Jersey Service
Regular weekday service will resume at the start of the service day, Tuesday February 2nd, for South Jersey buses and Access Link Region 3. River LINE will operate on a Sunday schedule. Atlantic City Rail Line will continue operating regular weekday service. North & Central New Jersey Bus Service
Northern and Central New Jersey buses, including routes serving the Trenton-area, Newark-area and Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, will not resume service prior to noon on Tuesday, February 2nd. Service resumption times remain dependent on weather and road conditions, and coordination with local and county officials. Rail Service
Pascack Valley, Main/Bergen County/Port Jervis, Morristown and Gladstone Branch rail lines will not operate prior to noon. Service will resume as soon as weather conditions permit safe operation. Upon resumption, these rail lines will operate on Severe Weather Schedule Level 2. Rail customers should customize their service alerts on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app to receive push notifications, monitor MyTransit Alerts, social media and njtransit.com for service resumption information.
Northeast Corridor (NEC), North Jersey Coast (NJCL) and Raritan Valley (RVL) rail lines will resume service at approximately 9 a.m. and will operate on Severe Weather Schedule Level 2. The first trains to depart their origins are as follows:
- Trenton (NEC): 8:59 a.m., train 7820
- New York (NEC): 9:15 a.m., train 7829
- Long Branch (NJCL): 9:06 a.m., train 7220
- Bay Head (NJCL): 9:21 a.m., train 4724
- New York (NJCL): 9:08 a.m., train 7229
- Raritan (RVL): 9:14 a.m., train 5512
- Newark (RVL): 10:38 a.m., train 5517
Newark & Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Service
On Tuesday, February 2nd, Newark Light Rail will resume service at noon and operate on a weekday schedule for the remainder of the service day. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will resume at the start of the service day and operate on a Saturday/Sunday schedule for the entire service day. Access Link Service
Access Link service in Region 3 (south Jersey) will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Access Link service in Regions 2, 4, 5 & 6 in central and north Jersey will not begin operating until after noon, and even that is heavily contingent upon local road conditions.
NJ TRANSIT is extremely sensitive to the needs of our Access Link customers, however the local roads that are predominantly used by Access Link vehicles have been particularly hard hit. NJ TRANSIT will resume Access Link service in these regions as soon as it can be done safely and responsibly.
