NJ State Police Traffic Stop Results in Drug, Gun Charges

The New Jersey State Police have arrested Dante Mr. Johnson-Simmons, 25, and Mr. Latal Turner, 19, both of Philadelphia, PA, and Mr. Calvin Cheeze, 20, of Cheltenham, PA, after a car stop that led to the seizure of drugs and the recovery of two guns.

According to police officials, on Saturday, June 13, at 8:21 p.m., Trooper John Fallon stopped Johnson-Simmons for a traffic violation on the Atlantic City Expressway westbound at milepost 29.3 in Winslow Township, Camden County.

Police say during the stop, Tpr. Fallon determined that Johnson-Simmons was in possession of a .380 caliber gun and marijuana. He was arrested without incident.

After further investigation, troopers discovered that Turner was in possession of a .40 caliber gun and heroin, and Cheeze was in possession of marijuana.

Police say they were arrested without incident.

Latal Turner was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, and possession of heroin. He was lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a bail detention hearing.

Dante Johnson-Simmons was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Calvin Cheeze was charged with possession of marijuana.

They were released pending a future court date.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
