NJ State Police Investigates Garden State Parkway Car Crash

Officials from the NJ State Police are looking into the cause of a crash that left at least one person seriously injured on a New Jersey highway during the overnight hours.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 111.7 in Middletown to investigate a car crash with possible injuries at around 4:20 a.m.

Units arrived at the scene and found a badly damaged car in the wooded portion of the highway with a trapped occupant reports said.

Firefighters were able to extricate the victim then hand the unidentified person off to EMS for the transport to an area hospital.

The extent of the victim's injuries were not readily available as of 5:10 a.m. and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
