A Shrewsbury Borough police officer is resigning from his post, forfeiting his weapons and firearms ID cards after pleading guilty to trespassing on the property of a borough resident earlier this year, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Officials said Ryan M. Cullinane, 27, of Tinton Falls and a patrolman with the Shrewsbury Borough Police Department, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to fourth degree Trespass before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Vincent N. Falcetano, Jr.
According to authorities, Cullinane admitted that while off-duty he was trespassing when he was found at the residence of a borough resident uninvited and refusing to leave. As part of his plea agreement, Cullinane will resign from the Shrewsbury Borough Police Department, forfeit his weapons and firearms ID card, as well as to have no victim contact and be prohibited from returning to scene of his crime.
This plea was derived after consultation with victim.
Officials said Cullinane faces up to 18 months in state prison but is expected to apply to the Pre-Trial Intervention Program.
The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Lipp, Director of the Office’s Professional Responsibilities and Bias Crimes Unit.
