NJ Man Yelling Racial Slurs Arrested for Lunging at Police, Holding Dumbbell

Authorities in NJ reported that on Wednesday, August 16, Ryan Dutton, 32, of Mays Landing, pleaded guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in exchange for a three-year term in New Jersey State Prison.

Officials say on November 16, 2022, Hamilton Township police responded to the Sandpiper Condominiums for a report of a male yelling racial slurs in the hallway of a building.

Upon making contact with the subject, identified as Ryan Dutton, police observed Dutton carrying a dumbbell, according to officials.

Police ordered Dutton to drop the dumbbell.

Officials said after refusing officer commands, Dutton attempted to lunge at the police officers before being subdued and arrested.

Sentencing for the matter will be on September 26, 2023, in front of the Honorable W. Todd Miller, J.S.C.
