NJ Man Sentenced for Illegal Gun Possession, Assault in Atlantic City

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on March 29, David Spinks, 64, of Northfield, was sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison, where he must serve his entire sentence without parole.

According to officials, these charges stem from two separate incidents.

On July 13, 2020, in Atlantic City, Spinks assaulted a victim on Michigan Avenue with a sawed-off shotgun by striking him over the head.

Police say on August 18, 2020, also in Atlantic City, Spinks was apprehended for the above assault by Atlantic City Police.

During his arrest, Spinks was found to be in possession of a handgun.

On November 9, Spinks pled guilty to one count of second-degree Certain Person Not to Possess Firearms for a five-year N.J.S.P. sentence without parole and one count of second-degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose for a five-year sentence where he must serve three- and one-half years before being eligible for parole.
