A Pleasantville man has admitted to stealing a vehicle and resisting arrest during separate incidents investigated by Atlantic City Police.

According to Atlantic County prosecutors, 21-year-old Jose Amaro pleaded guilty on June 15, 2026, before Judge Joseph Levin to third-degree theft of a motor vehicle and third-degree resisting arrest.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Amaro is expected to be sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison.
Authorities said the resisting arrest charge stemmed from an incident on December 12, 2025, when Atlantic City Police responded to a business after receiving reports that Amaro was refusing to leave the premises.
When officers attempted to speak with him, Amaro allegedly walked away and ignored commands. Police said he resisted arrest by pulling his arms away, tensing his body, and dragging an officer during the struggle.
The theft charge arose from a separate incident in which Atlantic City Police responded to Albany Avenue regarding a vehicle that Amaro was operating.
During the investigation, Amaro reportedly told officers multiple times that he had stolen the vehicle. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
