On April 23, 2026, Giovannie Belle, 37, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Pamela D’Arcy to fourth-degree joyriding and two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Belle is expected to be sentenced to four years in New Jersey State Prison.

Authorities said the charges stem from multiple incidents in 2025.

On August 10, 2025, officers with the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the Country View Inn and Suites after a report of a stolen vehicle.

The victim told police he had allowed an unknown man to borrow his car to go to a store, but the suspect never returned.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle near the motel and found Belle standing nearby. He was taken into custody at the scene.

Later that month, on August 30, 2025, officers with the New Jersey Transit Police Department observed Belle riding a bicycle near the Atlantic City Bus Terminal. When officers attempted to stop him in connection with an unrelated investigation, Belle fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Police reported that he was found in possession of fentanyl.

In a separate incident on December 10, 2025, officers with the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a shoplifting report at a Circle K. After reviewing surveillance footage, officers located Belle a short distance away at the Atlantic City Bus Terminal.
