NJ Man Indicted for Leaving Scene of Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, December 21, Timothy J. Schellinger, Jr., 44, from Tuckahoe, was indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury for second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash.AdOfficials said on July 10, 2023, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Jermaine Goines, 51, from Toms River, was struck and killed by a flatbed truck while walking eastbound on Route 40 in Mays Landing.

The truck fled the scene, officials stated; however, a 9-1-1 caller was able to provide a description of the truck and its direction of travel.

Officers from the Hamilton Township Police Department were able to locate the truck approximately three miles away, authorities say.

Schellinger, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody, according to officials.
