Authorities have charged a South Brunswick man in connection with multiple incidents of public lewdness that occurred earlier this month on the Middlesex College campus in Edison.

According to a statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Middlesex College Police Chief Christopher Wertz, 21-year-old Jihad Goines Jr. was arrested on May 19, 2025, following an investigation into several lewd acts reported on May 9.
Campus police initially responded to a report of a man engaging in inappropriate behavior in the lobby of a campus building.
A subsequent investigation, which included a review of surveillance footage, uncovered two additional incidents involving the same individual.
In each case, Goines was allegedly seen performing lewd acts in close proximity to students.
Goines has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and three counts of lewdness, a disorderly persons offense.
Following a detention hearing held on May 22, Goines was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
Authorities also noted that Goines had been previously arrested in December 2024 in connection with similar incidents in South Brunswick and on the Rutgers University campus.
In that case, he was charged with three counts of criminal sexual contact and seven counts of lewdness.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Officer Shawn Ferguson of the Middlesex College Police Department or Detective Ashley Blackwell of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3465.
