Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated in September 2025 that the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit was notified by members of the Huntley Police Department in Illinois of an investigation that began in April of 2024, involving a 14-year-old female communicating and exchanging explicit photographs via a social media platform with an individual believed to reside in South Bound Brook.

Upon receiving this information, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit conducted further investigation, which led to the identification of Luis Stylianakis as the individual who communicated with the minor via a social media platform and possessed Explicit Materials Involving Minors.

According to Somerset County officials, on Tuesday, October 21, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with members of the South Bound Brook Police Department, responded to Luis Stylianakis’ residence, where he was located and taken into custody without incident.

Detectives seized Stylianakis’ electronic devices pending further forensic analysis, and defendant Stylianakis was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office for processing, SCPO officials say.

Somerset County authorities said defendant Stylianakis was charged with 3rd degree Possession of Explicit Materials Involving Minors, 3rd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 3rd degree Distribution of Obscene Materials to a Minor.

Defendant Stylianakis was lodged at the Somerset County Jail and later released after appearing in Superior Court, SCPO officials said.
