A 20-year-old Passaic man has been arrested and charged in connection with a Fourth of July shooting that left three people injured, according to information released by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman announced that Orlando Bravo, of Passaic, turned himself in to the Passaic Police Department on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Bravo is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
The charges stem from a shooting reported at approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026, near Essex Street and Third Street in Passaic.
Responding officers located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, including a 22-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a 34-year-old man, all from Passaic.
The victims were transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. Police also secured a crime scene in the area as detectives launched an investigation.
Authorities said the investigation identified Bravo as the alleged shooter.
The Passaic Police Department was assisted by the United States Marshals Service and the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force in coordinating Bravo’s surrender.
