A 61-year-old West Deptford man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that left an adult woman seriously injured, according to a statement released by Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns.

Randall D. Bilger faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Authorities say West Deptford Police responded Friday morning after a witness called 911 reporting that Bilger was outside a residence bleeding and holding a knife.

The witness had gone to check on the female victim.

After finding the front door locked, the witness went to the back of the home, where Bilger allegedly answered the door covered in blood and holding a knife, telling the witness, “It’s not a good time.”

When officers arrived, Bilger came to the front door but did not comply with commands to exit the residence.

Officers then entered the home, took Bilger into custody, and located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Investigators said the victim told police that Bilger stabbed her in the shoulder several hours earlier and then again in the abdomen shortly before the witness arrived.

She was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her current condition has not been disclosed.
