NJ Man Charged, Arrested for Atlantic City Murder on New Year's Day

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Vincent Oglesby, 30, from Woodbine, was taken into custody in Pleasantville and subsequently charged with the murder of Richard Vincent O’Brien, III, occurring on January 1, 2024, in Atlantic City.Ad

According to officials, he was lodged and remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.

Officials say on January 1, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Atlantic City Police responded to a 911 call regarding a male bleeding in the unit block of S. California Avenue.

The male, later identified as O’Brien, 50, was transported to the Atlantic City Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds, officials stated.

Authorities say it is alleged that Oglesby stabbed the victim in the neck area, with the injury ultimately leading to his death.
