Powerball fever is intensifying across New Jersey and the nation after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s massive $929 million drawing, sending the jackpot into billionaire territory.
The winning numbers drawn Monday, August 10, were 6, 37, 54, 55 and 64, with Powerball 10. The Power Play multiplier was 3X.
According to official Powerball results, no ticket matched all five white balls and the Powerball to claim the estimated $929 million grand prize.
The jackpot has now climbed to an estimated $1 billion for Wednesday night’s drawing, with a cash option of approximately $433.1 million.
While the jackpot survived another drawing, several players around the country still became instant millionaires.
Powerball officials reported that tickets sold in California and Maryland matched all five white balls to win $1 million each.
A Tennessee ticket also matched five numbers and included the Power Play option, boosting that prize to $2 million.
The enormous jackpot comes during a particularly lucky stretch for some New Jersey players.
According to the New Jersey Lottery, several significant Powerball prizes were won in the Garden State during the previous week.
A ticket for the August 3 drawing won $100,000, while an August 5 ticket purchased at Sunrise Paramus in Bergen County won $50,000.
Three more sizable New Jersey Powerball prizes were won in the August 8 drawing.
A ticket purchased at Emporium Cigar & Convenience in Toms River won $150,000, while tickets sold at QuickChek in South Bound Brook and Krauszer’s Food Store in Rahway each won $50,000.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play in New Jersey. Players select five white-ball numbers from 1 through 69 and one Powerball number from 1 through 26.
Power Play can be added for an additional $1 and can multiply qualifying non-jackpot prizes.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
With Wednesday’s estimated jackpot now sitting at $1 billion, players throughout New Jersey will once again be checking their tickets in hopes that the next drawing produces the game’s newest billionaire.
