Authorities say Richard B. Tancer, a 68-year-old resident of Montville, was taken into custody after a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Little Ferry Police Department.

The charges stem from a report made on Friday, July 18, 2025, when the Little Ferry Police were notified of a possible sexual assault that had occurred earlier that day at the Family Medical Group, a healthcare facility located in Little Ferry.

The investigation revealed that Tancer allegedly assaulted an adult female patient while conducting a physical examination at the medical office.

Following the investigation, Tancer was arrested in Montville and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

He was transported to the Bergen County Jail, where he is being held pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

Officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
