A New Jersey-based company has issued a recall for about 70 pounds of imported prosciutto after the product was not presented for required U.S. import reinspection, according to information released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The agency said Ferrarini USA, Inc., located in Secaucus, announced the recall of its ready-to-eat sliced prosciutto, which was imported on April 21, 2025.

The affected product is sold in 4-ounce vacuum-sealed plastic trays labeled “FERRARINI PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA PRODUCT OF ITALY,” with lot code “2527642” printed on the back label.

The packages bear the Italian establishment number “IT 713 L CE,” which is printed inside the Italian mark of inspection on the front.

The sliced prosciutto was distributed to retail locations in California.

The issue came to light when a federal establishment alerted the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that the product had been shipped without undergoing the required import reinspection.

At this time, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection with the recalled prosciutto.

However, officials advise anyone concerned about potential illness after consuming the product to contact a healthcare provider.

The FSIS continues to monitor the situation, and additional details can be found on the USDA website or through local health authorities.
