The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred Friday morning in Middle Township, Cape May County.
According to information released by the Attorney General’s Office, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:21 a.m. September 25 in the area of Route 9 and Satt Boulevard.
Authorities said an adult male civilian suffered fatal injuries during the encounter. Officials have not released the identity of the man or the law enforcement officer or officers involved.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting also have not yet been disclosed.
Under New Jersey law, the Attorney General’s Office investigates deaths that occur during encounters with law enforcement officers acting in their official capacity or while a person is in custody.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and authorities said no additional information is being released at this time.
