Newark residents will soon have a new way to access fresh, nutritious food as United Community Corporation (UCC), in partnership with Wellpoint, celebrates the grand opening of The Market at UCC on Wednesday, July 1.

Moving away from traditional pre-packed food distributions, The Market at UCC introduces a choice-based shopping experience that allows residents to select the foods that best fit their household’s dietary needs and preferences, providing a more personalized and dignified approach to food assistance.
The official grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 409 South 18th Street in Newark.

Following the launch, the market will operate Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To help ensure a smooth shopping experience, the market will primarily serve residents by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled through the Plentiful app, by scanning the QR code on the event flyer, or by texting UCC PANTRY to 726879.
UCC officials said the new marketplace is designed to strengthen food security in Newark while giving families the opportunity to choose fresh, healthy foods that best meet their individual needs.
