By RLS Media Reporter, Katie Briante

Newark's Malcom X. Shabazz High School is bringing graduation to the students! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 graduating class of about 110 students had their graduation moved to a virtual ceremony.

In the three days leading up to the of the ceremony on June 18, Principal Naseed Gifted is riding around the city on a parade float decorated like a graduation stage, and presenting graduates with their diploma cases, personalized posters, and gift bags.

The truck, as well as the decorations for the float, were donated by the high school and Newark South Ward residents.

Also making contributions were Grandeur Events, owned by Shantay Cureton of Hillside, NJ, Ritz-Walton Productions (Banner Sponsor), Mary Bennett, HallMills Network and PBS Media.

Arts High School delivered the steps to the float.
