Newark Woman Struck, Killed While Crossing Street in Summit

The Summit Police Department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on River Road early Wednesday morning. 

https://www.holyangels.org/admissions/visit-ahaSummit Police officials told RLS Media that at approximately 6:51 a.m., a 66-year-old woman from Newark met with a tragic end when she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross River Road.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Plain Street, where the woman was hit in the middle of the block by a 2018 Toyota Tundra.

The driver of the vehicle, a 70-year-old man from Hopatcong, was involved in the unfortunate event.

Emergency services, including the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, promptly responded to the scene.

Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead after being transported to Overlook Medical Center.

The Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau, in collaboration with the Union County Accident Reconstruction Team, is diligently working to piece together the details of this incident.

As part of their investigation, they are reaching out to the public for any information that could shed light on the circumstances leading to this tragic accident.
