Newark Woman Injured in Altercation at East Ward Housing Complex, Suspect Arrested

Newark officials are currently investigating a violent encounter incident that occurred in the city's East Ward on Saturday night, December 2nd. AdThe incident involved a physical altercation between two women, ultimately resulting in one of them suffering an apparent stab injury. 

According to Newark Police, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting a fight in progress on the 100 block of Pennington Street (Pennington Court).

Authorities said the two women involved in the altercation were acquainted. During the confrontation, one of the women was injured. 

The woman was swiftly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment. Police reports indicate that she is now in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the second woman involved in the altercation was apprehended at the scene by law enforcement officers.

AdThe arrested individual is currently facing charges of aggravated assault and weapon possession.

Police officials have not been able to confirm whether a child was also injured during the altercation, as some residents have suggested.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing.
