We’re warming up a bit as we move into this early Wednesday morning in Newark and across the North Jersey region.
Good morning, it is 36 degrees at Central Avenue and South 12th Street, and temperatures are expected to climb toward the 50-degree mark later today.
It feels relatively comfortable for January, and conditions could certainly be much colder this time of year.
However, drivers should use caution. Areas of dense fog are developing for early commuters around 4:30 a.m., and some freezing drizzle may create slick spots on local roadways.
According to the National Weather Service:
Today
Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 48. Light northwest wind becoming west 12 to 17 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph.
Tonight
Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind 5 to 9 mph.
