Newark, Virginia Men Accused of Stealing 25 Bags of Shoes, Clothes from Wayne Donation Bins

Police announced the arrest of two men accused of stealing 25 bags filled with shoes and clothing deposited in outdoor donation bins.

According to authorities, Wayne officers on Wednesday sometime around 10:30 p.m., saw two men removing bags of clothes from the Cancer Support Community’s bins located in the parking lot of the Packanack Lake shopping center.

Officials say officers ultimately found 10 bags of clothing and shoes inside the vehicle and another 15 bags had already been removed from the bin.

Police arrested both men - later identified as - Ramon Ferreiras-Velz, 29, of Newark, and Jorge Dariel Martinez, 34, of Fairfax, Virginia - and charged them with theft. Ferreiras-Velez was also charged with hindering apprehension by giving false information.

Authorities say both men were taken to Wayne police headquarters and later released pending an initial court appearance.
