Newark TV Seller Accused of Stealing Money from Buyer

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Richard Dejoie, 29, of Newark, who is wanted for a theft that occurred on Feb. 5th.

According to authorities, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police responded to the 400-block of South 17th Street on a call of a theft.

Upon arrival, police learned a man who engaged in a private purchase of a television had his money stolen by the alleged seller.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Richard Dejoie as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of theft.

While police are actively searching for Dejoie, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from the streets.

Police describe Dejoie as 5’3” tall, 120 lbs., light brown complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He also has a scar on his face.
