A shots fired incident that occurred in Newark's South Ward ended in the arrests of a suspect and the recovery of weapons overnight.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Chadwick Avenue at approximately midnight sending multiple police officers to the scene where the found evidence that a shooting occurred but after a search of the area, there were no victims located.
Police took a male suspect into custody and recovered at least one weapon near the shooting scene reports said.
A crime scene was established as detectives searched the area for other evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
