Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double shooting that resulted in the death of Sirree Samod Scales, 26, of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Authorities said, shortly after midnight today, Scales and a woman who is 9 months pregnant were shot in the 100 block of Seymour Avenue in Newark.
Scales was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. authorities said.
The 23-year-old Newark woman sustained non-fatal injuries.
Authorities said at this time the investigation is active and ongoing.
There are no arrests made or suspects identified authorities said.
