Newark South Ward Drug, Weapons Bust has Man in Custody

A search for drugs and weapons in a Newark South Ward community had officers arrest a man Monday morning according to a press released issued.

According to police, **Jamil T. Rogers-White, 21**, of Newark, was taken into custody during the bust and charged with Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and Distribution of CDS and Distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of a Public Library.

Police said, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a complaint by residents had officers canvass the 100-block of Mapes Avenue where they noted a heavy odor of marijuana emanating from a group of individuals, including Rogers-White, who were congregated in front of a residence.

Rogers-White was arrested without incident for possession of CDS police said.

Officers also recovered a 9mm semi-automatic rifle at the location.

These are mere accusations lodged against White.

He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
