Newark Shooting Suspect Arrested

Authorities announced the areas of a 31-year-old Newark man wanted for a shooting that occurred on June 25, 2017.

According to police, at approximately 7:25 p.m., police responded to the 400-block of South 16th Street to a call of shots fired.

Police said a male suspect fired at another man with both of the men fleeing the scene.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify **Mr. Shaquan S. Wiley**as a suspect in this shooting

Police arrested Wiley today without incident then charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes and two counts of Criminal Mischief.

These charges are merely accusations lodged against Mr. Wiley.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
