Newark Search Warrants end in Arrests of Five for Multiple Weapons Possesion; Drugs

Police officials in Newark are reporting the arrests of Ms. Tarah Eubanks-Murray, 36, Mr. Lamar Neville, 31, Mr. Damond Thompson, 31, Ms. Porsha Williams, 23, and Mercedes Williams, 23, all from Newark, for weapons and drug possession following the execution of two search warrants today.

In a statement released to the media, police said in response to citizen complaints, members of the Special Enforcement Bureau of the Newark Police Division obtained search warrants at two residents, both in the 400-block of South 10th Street.

According to the statement, at 425 South 10th Street, police recovered one AR-15 assault rifle, a .357 revolver, one high-capacity magazine for an AK-47 assault rifle and more than 450 rounds of ammunition.

Police said Tarah Eubanks-Murray and Lamar Neville were both arrested at this location.

Police charged the pair with Possession of a High Capacity Magazine, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition (hollow point bullets) and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (defaced firearm) along with Violation of the New Jersey Regulatory Statute for Firearms.

According to police, at 427-429 South 10th Street, police recovered one loaded .22 caliber handgun and 18 grams of marijuana.

Police charged Damond Thompson, Porsha Williams and Mercedes Williams with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, CDS Possession (marijuana), Distribution of CDS, Distribution of CDS Within 1,000 ft. of a School, and CDS Distribution Within 500-ft. of a Public Housing Complex.

Police further charged Thompson with Certain Persons Prohibited from Weapon Possession.

The charges are accusations.

All of the suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
