Newark Sanitation Workers Arrested for Drug Possession

City officials today confirmed that Timothy Jones, 35, and Najee Phillips, 23, both of Newark, were both terminated as city sanitation workers following their arrest Thursday evening.

According to police, Jones - driving a Dodge Charger - was stopped after recklessly driving at high speed on 15th Avenue just before midnight.

Detectives during the stop seized 256 decks of heroin.

Jones and Phillips were arrested and are facing various drug charges. Numerous traffic summonses were also issued.

As a result of their arrest, both were terminated as sanitation workers, according to city officials.
