Newark Pursuit Ends in West Orange with Arrest

A vehicle that refused to stop for police in Newark early this morning ended in West Orange with police apprehending at least one suspect.

Police attempted to pull over a vehicle for traffic violations in the area of South 11th Street and Central Avenue when the driver of the vehicle refused to stop then. He then sped off down Central Avenue reports said.

Cops followed the vehicle (later reported stolen) to the westbound entrance off of First Street to about exit 11B on Rt. 280 when Newark Police terminated following the vehicle, then contacted NJ State Police.

State Troopers noticed the vehicle in the westbound lanes of the highway when they attempted to pull it over, it sped away at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle came to a halt after getting stuck in a ditch in a wooded area off of Cannon Street (Prospect Avenue) a short time later.

Police apprehended the male suspect after a brief foot pursuit.

There were no injuries reported.
