Newark Police Seeks Public's Assistance Locating Woman for Carjacking Investigation

Newark authorities are seeking the assistance of the public in locating Ms. Yvonne Barnes, a 63-year-old individual wanted for questioning in connection with a carjacking incident that took place on December 10.  AdThe carjacking incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when the victim, a Lyft driver, picked up two male passengers in the 40 block of Eckert Avenue.

As the journey progressed towards the 200 block of 18th Avenue, a disagreement erupted between the victim and the passengers over loud music.

When they reached the 600 block of Bergen Street, near Clinton Avenue, the Lyft driver requested that the passengers exit his vehicle, registered under New Jersey license plate Z99MWW.

The passengers complied, but instead of departing peacefully, they launched an attack on the driver.Ad Suspect #1 struck the victim multiple times in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, where the second suspect joined in the assault, repeatedly punching the victim.

Following the brutal attack, Suspect #2, described as a 5'8" tall Black male, entered the victim's vehicle and fled north on Bergen Street.

He was wearing a yellow traffic vest, blue jeans, a dark hat, and had long braided hair. Suspect #1, a Black male, stands at 5'10" tall and was dressed in a red jacket, blue jeans, and had braided hair.
