Newark Police Seeks Help Identifying Robbery Suspects, Vehicle

Authorities in Newark request the public’s help with identifying two suspects who assaulted and robbed an individual before driving away in an SUV on January 21, 2024.Ad Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said police officers responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the 400 block of N. 12th Street near Abington Avenue.

According to officials, the suspects, both Black males, exited a white SUV, possibly an Audi, and chased the victim as he was walking toward his car.

The victim attempted to run away, but he fell to the ground, where the suspects kicked and punched him, taking $200, officials stated.

Officials said the suspects, who may have been juveniles, fled in the SUV that was driven by a third individual headed westbound on Abington Avenue.  Pic

Suspect # 1 is described as 5’5” with a slim build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and a face mask, officials say.

Authorities say suspect #2, who also has a slim build, was wearing dark-colored clothing and a face mask.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspects and the SUV vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
