Newark Police Seeks Help Identifying Auto Burglary Suspect

Authorities in Newark request the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male in connection with an auto burglary that occurred on Saturday, December 9, 2023.AdNewark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said that at approximately 9:10 a.m., the victim left his bookbag inside a work van parked in the 200 block of South 6th Street.

Officials stated a male suspect entered the vehicle, took the bag, and fled on foot, heading southbound on South 6th Street and then east on South Orange Avenue.

The brown bookbag contained the victim’s wallet, keys, and a JBL speaker, officials said.

According to officials, detectives investigating this incident are requesting the public’s help to quickly identify the suspect, described as a Black male with a light complexion and dread locs.

Authorities say the suspect wore a blue parka coat, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and gray, low-top Jordan Retro 11 sneakers.
